Michael receiving his cape by fellow capeable Steve Gibson.
Michael Reyes inducted into the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude in May 2018 for decades long leadership in expanding HIV training in the United States and around the world. As the Principal Investigator of the Pacific AIDS Education and Training Center, Co-Principal Investigator of the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH), and Principal Investigator of the National Center of Excellence for Transgender Health (CoE). Michael Reyes was recognized in 2011 with the UCSF Chancellor’s Diversity Award for LGBTQI Leadership.
Michael undoubtedly a leader with tremendous impact for good. He was caped for being “The Mother of all Pearls.” I caped Michael for the grace, ceremony and humor he has brought to his role. I caped Michael for his championing of others – supporting students, staff and faculty in rising as only they can. I caped Michael for being charming and wise, even in difficult situations. Carry on, Michael. You are the mother of all pearls.
About the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude
“The plain fact is that the world does not need more successful people, but it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane.” David Orr
I deeply admire those who “live well in their places.” The ordinary and the unsung who offer to the world the very best parts of themselves without expectation.
This is a beautiful expression of love in her calm, persistent, generous manner – offering a ripple of change (a metamorphosis) to the world.
Inductees to the Love Superhero Hall of Gratitude are caped in recognition of their contributions to a love-filled world.
